A New Year
I’m always encouraged when I see the beginning of a New Year come upon us. I like to think that what went wrong during the old year, will be corrected in the future. Now many times that comes to fruition, and sometimes man’s heart continues to be wicked and we follow down the same path as when the wrongs were committed. Regardless, 2021 is going to be a very challenging year. With the elections and a new congress being installed, each side appears to have their marching orders. Socialism is trying desperately to make inroads into our established democracy, while Capitalism is trying desperately to hold on to the reins of power.
As ‘Born-again’ Christians, we understand that as a nation, we have much to be ashamed of and that needs repentance. As individual believers, we have been praying that God will separate the ‘wheat from the tares’, and give us the opportunity to rebuild a nation that honors God and prefers to live by His standards; not the worlds. Part of the problem is that there are so many factions that are actively trying to scuttle the efforts of those that want to do the right thing. I always find that scenario interesting. In God’s Word, He shares many accounts of how, at the last minute when everything looked like satan was going to conquer the Israelites, He would step in and turn the tide; thereby defeating satan… I don’t think that this time will be any different.
When the cause for justice and equity looks the bleakest, I’m confident that God will do what He always does; in this case, expose the evil and punish those that are responsible, while granting the righteous another chance to do what is right… as my mother always said; ‘we shall see, what we shall see.'
