About Our God-Part 1
As ‘Born-again Christians’ we worship a unique and Triune God… God-the-Father, God The Son, and God The Holy Spirit; we refer to them as ‘The Godhead or The Trinity’. It’s interesting that many people are a bit confused about the relationship that we have with each one of them. Let’s understand that they are all fully God. God’s Word tells us that they do have some different responsibilities… I shall explain. John Chapter 1: verses 1-3 shares the following… ‘In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God… He was with God from the beginning. And through Him, all things were made; and without Him, nothing came into being. Then in Verse 14, it says… ‘and the Word became flesh and dwelt among us.’ God tells us that He Created the Universe… (I’m happy to take Him at His Word).
Considering the size of the Universe it’s likely that it requires a fair amount of maintenance; imagine, billions of ‘light years’ of space and substance. Without constant maintenance, the Universe would likely fall into Chaos and Disrepair… consider the pollution that exists on the Earth these days. On a lighter note, it makes sense that God’s Angels are likely involved in helping to keep the Universe running smoothly. They do have the ability to travel great distances quickly, and their special skills would certainly come in handy.
Anyway… one day, many eons ago, God decided to create the Earth… a most beautiful Planet; it was perfect in every way. But shortly after He created Adam and Eve, Satan beguiled Eve, and due to Adam’s foolishness in also easting the ‘forbidden fruit’, sin entered the Earth. Now while the rest of the Universe was humming along, it didn’t take about 2300 years to fall into terrible sin. That’s where Noah comes into the picture.
God decided to destroy the earth and its inhabitants, and start over with 8 human beings; Noah his wife, his 3 sons, their 3 wives; along with lots and lots of animals. That worked for a short while, but satan proved to be a very tough competitor; he kept getting in the way of God’s plans for man to live righteously.
So, God devised a new Plan that included sending His only begotten Son, Jesus, to Save God’s Children from their sins. This included God’s Word becoming flesh and dwelling among men for about 33 years. During that time, Jesus preached the good news of the Gospel and was eventually crucified as an atonement for man’s sin.
Finally, all men and women would have the opportunity to confess their sin, seek forgiveness, ask for Christ to come into their hearts… be Baptized, receive the Holy Spirit… and become blood purchased ‘Children-of-God’… History clearly shows that Jesus was resurrected, so that He could not only be with us today but would eventually spearhead the complete destruction of Satan, sin, and evil.
