What does God Look Like?
In John 4:24 we are told that the Lord God is a spirit, and cannot be duplicated in any way. Any attempt to create idols or images is not only blasphemous, it is entirely foolish to try to give life to a dead, inanimate object made by man.
God is a Divine Spirit that exists as three persons – God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. He cannot be compared to any other being and He never changes. He exists everywhere, knows and understands everything, and possesses all power and authority over His creation.
The judgment of God displays another truth about who He is; a highly moral being. Malachi 3: 6, tells us that God is unchanging; He is all-knowing, present at all times, and is Holy and Glorious; He will one day judge all sin and unrighteousness in a just manner. Isaiah 44: 25 says that He “overthrows the learning of the wise and turns it into nonsense.
When Jesus entered our world, He showed us what His Father was like. He explained to His disciples that if they have seen Him, they had already seen the Father. As we get to know Christ, we begin to understand that God loves us. And it is because of His love for His children, that God sent His only Son into the world, to die on a cross for we sinners. It is due to that same love, that Christ continues to call sinners to repentance. God’s true nature can also be seen in His Grace and His mercy, even when we make mistakes and need forgiveness. it is God’s very being and what He can accomplish, that draws people to Himself and His Son Jesus Christ.
Psalm 13: 1, tells us that the atheist is a ‘fool’ if he denies the existence of everything that he can see and experience around him.
So, the next time someone tries to tell you that God only exists in the mind of man, or is a character within a manmade religion, quietly point out the miraculous creation that can be seen all around them.
