Eternity with God and Christ
John 1: 14, John tells us… ‘the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we saw His Glory, the Glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of Grace and Truth’. 1 Timothy 2: 5, tells us… ‘for there is only one God, and one mediator between God and men’. It is through God’s Son Jesus, that we find and receive forgiveness and reconciliation for our sins. In John 10: 30, Jesus tells us “I and the Father are one”. When God came to Earth in the flesh; He and His Son Jesus were in one accord; to save the world from their sin.
Jesus is the Bridge and Mediator between God and man; it’s that simple. Besides, who else but God possesses the wisdom, power, and understanding to create such a relationship. Jesus and the Father are 2 personalities, and part of the same personage. If we really want to know who God is, we can study Him in the scriptures. Christ never made an important decision while on Earth, until he consulted and prayed with His Father-in-Heaven… consider that for a moment. This truth must escape some Christians; they say that no-one can know God; I DISAGREE! Within the Old and New Testaments, God talks to us directly in Genesis and Exodus, and also through His many Prophets. And God’s Holy Spirit, living within every born-again believer, shares God’s wisdom and His understanding with us. He wants us to understand what God has in mind… which is part of His responsibility.
Imagine for a moment, that you meet someone you find quite interesting; you want to know more about them. So, you begin a conversation with them. It’s the same process when you begin to know who God is. BTW, His door is always open, He wants us to know and love Him; and what His plans are for your life. He also wants us to introduce us to His Son Jesus… so what does God do? Well, considering that He is the smartest and most powerful being in the Universe, He instructs His Holy Spirit to encourage us to receive His Son, Jesus Christ, as Lord-and-Savior, and to seek Baptism. I did mention how very smart God is, didn’t I?
The Holy Spirit that lives in our hearts, begins to encourage us, and share God’s wisdom with us. Then, through prayer and the study of God’s Word, we start to understand God and Christ in a more personal way. Eventually, we see ourselves being shaped into the image of God’s Son, Jesus. And considering that God, Christ, and The Holy Spirit know the ‘beginning from the end, and the end from the beginning, and always have the right answers; doesn’t it make perfect sense to pose all of our questions to the ‘Dynamic Trio’? And once we become comfortable with this plan of action, we recognize that life is becoming simpler and more productive.
God realizes that one of the most difficult things for human beings to wrap their minds around, is putting their faith into someone or something that they have never seen; but that is the point. We can see the evidence of what God has created all around us; in the earth, the seas, and certainly as far as a telescope can take us; but with all that evidence, it still requires a ‘leap-of-faith’ to believe in someone that we have not seen face-to-face. That’s the way God designed it. So, now we are left with the most important decision of our lives… to accept Christ by faith or decline God’s offer.
