Without the Promise of ‘Eternal Life’, would you commit your life to become a Christian; endeavoring to live ‘A CHRIST-Centered Life’? Great Question. To begin with, when we consider the concept of living for all Eternity, we must also consider who might have the wisdom, power, and understanding, to deliver on such a grand promise. Let’s face it; this is a very ‘Big Deal’. Additionally, anyone considering this path for their life must also believe that this Entity is trustworthy to the point that they are willing to commit to living their lives by God’s principles. Let me share the process that I experienced and how I arrived at a conclusion, made up of 2 parts of facts and 1 part of Faith. I was determined to gather enough facts to support not only the existence of such a being but also that they possessed the power, the ability, and desire to want to include me in their plan to offer Eternal Life to true Believers.

I must admit; as I began my quest, I did have a healthy level of skepticism. I was confident that I was ‘born-again’; I had no difficulty in believing that Jesus loved me and died for me; the facts easily prove that His birth, death, and resurrection, are well validated by multiple historical sources, and 1st hand Biblical accounts by well-respected Disciples, Apostles and 1st Century historians, that lived and wrote in the 1st century. But, as we cannot yet see the evidence of ‘Eternal Life’, we will have to wait till the last act, to confirm our belief… (to me, that qualifies as pure Faith). It quickly became obvious to me, that I was going to either accept or reject the concept of Eternal Life, based on the ultimate question… DID I HAVE ENOUGH FAITH TO OVERCOME ANY SKEPTICISM THAT I MIGHT HAVE?

So, what are the facts about this powerful being? Well, I can see the evidence of God’s creation all around me; the universe containing its stars, planets, the solar system, and the galaxy that we live in. His creation displayed more than enough proof to convince me that God possessed the Wisdom, Power and Understanding to do anything He wanted. I mean who else could create an entire Universe? Another question came into my mind… IF GOD COULD DO THIS, DID I BELIEVE THAT HE WOULD DO THIS FOR ME? I could feel Satan trying to gnaw away at my confidence. Fortunately, God knew that this was an emotional struggle for me.

I thought… where would an Eternal Heaven be located? I had no answer, but then I realized that since God had control over the entire Universe, it could be anywhere He wanted it to be. Revelation 21: 1, came to mind… ‘then I saw a ‘new Heaven and a new Earth, for the first Heaven and the first Earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea, (ouch, no more Sport-fishing)… but I digress. Anyway, if the old Earth and old Heaven were going to be replaced, I thought, Heaven and Earth could be exactly where they are now, but in a new and improved environment; (God’s Word does tell us that we will experience sights and sounds that eye has not seen and ear has not heard).

As a point of personal privilege, I am blessed beyond measure, that God provides me access to the His vast library, that contains His thoughts, His Wisdom, and His Understanding, that His Holy Spirit shares with me each time we meet. I’m certain that God wants me to know and understand many things, that would likely take the rest of my life here on Earth to absorb and appreciate it all.

In Proverbs 3, Solomon writes… ‘Blessed is the man who finds Wisdom, and obtains Understanding, for her profit is better than silver, and finer than gold’. And in Matthew 7: 7, Jesus tells us to… ‘Ask and it will be given to you, seek and you will find, knock and it will be opened to you. The key to accessing the vast library of God’s Thoughts, Wisdom, Knowledge, and Understanding are available to anyone who is ‘Born-again’, and living a consistent ‘Christ-Centered Life’…
