A Godly Woman
A hat-tip o Cally Logan, a writer from Richmond, Virginia
Character is the focus of today’s discussion. Proverbs chapter 31, describes a woman having Godly character; a woman who is to be praised and admired. It also describes the godly wife having a noble character… one that shows kindness to others; maintains honest integrity and prays for her family and friends. She draws on God’s wisdom and practices mercy when needed, and she has a deep relationship with God. Such a woman is to be greatly admired. It explains that although her youth and her beauty will eventually fade, it is her character, rooted in her dedication to God and her inner beauty that will endure forever.
She is a noble person, finding her strength in The Lord; never fearing what is to come in the future, and holding fast in her hope through Christ her Savior. She offers kindness to those around her, even those who are strangers; she is truly a godly example of a ‘Righteous woman’. She also maintains integrity in her work and takes pride in everything she does. She is eager to do what is right and never cuts corners; always striving to produce the best products that she can. She understands that what God thinks is far more important than what others may think of her; always giving her best no matter the task. She is fiercely loyal to her family and to her friends that work with her. She is highly regarded by those who know her.
Proverbs 31: 25, reveals this godly woman is one who is clothed with strength and dignity and looks forward to rejoicing; her character is deeply rooted in Christ. She doesn’t worry about the future; she knows that no matter the circumstances The Lord will be with her in every step she takes. She speaks slow and considers what to say before she says it.
Deborah, a judge during the 4th century B.C., was called by God to judge the nation of Israel for a period of time. She took her task seriously; not relying on her own strength and wisdom, but rather on the instructions that God would give her. We see again, that true wisdom is rooted in our reliance, strength, and guidance from God through His Holy Spirit.
So, as we seek God’s wisdom for every area of our lives, we should expect to be successful, for it is only through God’s wisdom and His assurance that will put us on the narrow path that leads to the small gate. Remember, we don’t have all the answers, but God does. Those in Christ, know that Faith is the primary ingredient to experiencing a successful life in Christ. Without it, we can only guess about important decisions. When we turn our lives and decisions over to the One who never makes mistakes, we can be assured of the end results; remember, God is never wrong… He knows the future, we do not.
Mary is a great example of how having Faith in God and how it works. An angel of the Lord comes to her and announces that God’s Holy Spirit is going to come over here and that she is going to give birth to the Son-of-God… what a shock. Yet, her deep faith in God encourages her to accept His plan for her life. What turned out was Jesus Christ, the Savior of the entire world.
When we exercise a deep Faith in God and Christ, while ignoring what the world would have us to do, God sees us as obedient children of the His Kingdom. When we are confident and are not fearful of what will take place in the future, God assures us that His Holy Spirit and his Angels will be right beside us. When we reject the world’s opinions God sees that our hearts and minds are in sync with Him and His Son Jesus; we are grounded in what God has instructed us to do.
